Djuna joined the Camp To Belong International Board in January 2011 and is currently serving as Board Secretary as well as participating on the By-Laws and Fundraising/Grants committees.
Acker is an Information Technology Manager for Walter R. McDonald & Associates, Inc. (WRMA), a company that specializes supporting national, state and local human services agencies to improve outcomes for the children and families. She works on technology projects related to the human services areas, including Child Welfare, Public Physical and Mental Health, Child Support and Financial Assistance. Her most recent projects have been six Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) projects. Her focus is primarily system implementation, including business process reengineering and integration, change management, training development and execution, and rollout planning and deployment.
Acker received her Computer Science degree from North Carolina State University in 1987. She began her career at Wake County Information Services in Raleigh, NC, advancing to the position of Information Services Manager for the Department of Human Services. She joined WRMA in 1998 and her current project is with the State of Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) Children, Adults and Families (CAF).
Acker was born and grew up in North Carolina. After graduating from North Carolina State University, she lived in Raleigh for 15 years. While she maintains a residence in North Carolina, her consulting work takes her to various places to work and live. In the past seven years, she has worked in Wisconsin, Louisiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington State, Oregon and Romania. She likes the opportunities that the travel has provided. However, her idea of a vacation is going home and being with her mother and sister in North Carolina.
