Sharon Yandian is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Camp to Belong International and chairs the Nominating and Board Governance committee. She also served as Vice Chair 2009-2011. She became involved with the organization by serving as a volunteer counselor at Camp To Belong – Colorado for several camp seasons. During this time, Yandian was instrumental in raising funds to send numerous youth-in-care to camp.
Working in human services her entire career, she began her career in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador, where she was a health educator and preschool teacher for two and a half years. Yandian currently works with the Department of Health and Human Services in the office of Head Start, where she leads their efforts related to policies and practices for children and their families who speak languages other than English. She has also been a long time court appointed advocate.
Yandian holds a Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a particular focus on Multicultural Bilingual Education and is fluent in Spanish. She and her husband are parents to two young boys.
