Our Mission & Approach
Camp To Belong is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the hub for a dynamic network of member Camps. Each member Camp is a separate organization: most are their own 501(c)(3), while others are part of larger organizations that provide Camp To Belong programming as part of their mission to serve youth in foster care. CTB supports our member Camps in a variety of ways. New member Camps receive guidance through all phases of the affiliation process and in-person support during their early years running camp week. All member Camps have access to an online repository of materials, tools, and training needed to perfect our program model and build sustainability within their community.
Every year, we gather the leaders of the CTB community at our annual meeting to celebrate and learn from the past camp season and prepare for the next season. At this meeting and throughout the year, we provide member Camps with best practices, educational workshops, and peer networking. We also conduct rigorous evaluation research to measure our impact and to guide our program fidelity work.
Our Signature Events
Camp To Belong is one of the only programs in the United States designed specifically to address the relational needs of youth who are separated by foster care. Through our signature event programming, Camp To Belong strengthens sibling relationships by providing youth with a place to connect, create memories, and normalize the experiences of placement in foster care.
Signature events include celebrating important life events that siblings missed being together and creating keepsakes for each other to remember their time together at camp. Our activities are organized to inspire connection and belonging, empower youth and provide positive role models. We give our campers the opportunity to spend time with others who are living in their shoes, make friends and bond with their siblings.
In addition to CTB’s signature events, our campers also participate in traditional camp activities, such as boating, horseback riding, swimming, and challenge courses.
Camp To Belong does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, marital status or sexual orientation in any of its activities or operations. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all of our campers, volunteers and staff members.
